New Nautilus Evo was used to reduce the use of concrete while improving seismic resistance at the Gruppo Grassi office in Montemurlo, Italy.

The Gruppo Grassi Office Building was designed by Studio Giuseppe Passaro Architects in collaboration with Studio Maistro GPa Studio and constructed by Engineering Costruzioni.

The project involved the construction of an office building in a seismic-prone area, where the main challenges were the building’s irregular geometry and support points located at different heights due to the terrain configuration.

The Geoplast Consulting team optimized the design by proposing the use of New Nautilus Evo to reduce concrete use.

Following multiple seismic-related advantages were achieved:

  • Significant reduction in concrete use,
  • Increased slab stiffness and improved load distribution,
  • Lower structural weight, resulting in reduced loads on foundations and supporting elements,
  • Manufactured from 100% recycled polypropylene (PP), contributing to circular economy principles.

Designed as part of sustainable building strategies, New Nautilus Evo replaces traditional solid concrete slabs with a lightweight modular formwork system that reduces concrete use and environmental impact.

In addition to recognizing the advantages of New Nautilus Evo, the client greatly appreciated Geoplast’s technical support and responsiveness in fulfilling project requirements.
